a random beach encounter

It is 1 pm, and I just got off my 2nd work meeting for today via Zoom.

I look at the fully scribbled paper in front of me.

My head is buzzing from so much information input.

My heart is racing not to know what to do.

We definitely have to delay the timeline. Oh gosh, I don’t know how this should work, we first have to redefine the concept which takes one more week minimum, then we’ll have to talk to our designer…

I quickly pulled myself out of the thought spiral, before anxiety would takeover completely.

Let’s go to the water for a jump. You haven’t been in there much lately.
I tell myself.

Which is true.

Even though I have the privilege to live one minute from the beach, it is so easy to get caught up in the daily buzz and occupy myself with stuff that is not contributing to my overall well-being.

I quickly ran home to grab my swimsuit, saw my flatmate, started to vent a little bit about my morning, and then finally headed off to the beach.

Walking down the ramp, still lost in thoughts, I see a familiar face.

It was a woman named Laila. I’ve heard a lot of interesting stories about her from my flatmate, but never got the chance to connect. I found her on instagram this morning actually.

She smiles at me ‘You also want to go to the water?’
‘Yes, I do! Waves looking insane though today.’

‘Yeah, I’m also not sure yet…’

I look at her, feeling a little bit shy not knowing if she wants to be on her own or would enjoy my company.

Casually, I say, ‘Let’s check it out together!’.

We make our way across the stones to the shore.

‘You know what’s funny’ she starts.
‘I was just thinking about inviting you for a coffee these days. Your flatmate told me a lot about you and I was curious to connect.’

‘No way!’ I laugh. ‘I also really wanted to get to know you!’

What a funny synchronicity.

We ended up going together into the water and swam some laps.
Afterwards, we sat together drying ourselves in the sun and looked out at the sea.

Talking to her was so easy.
We covered a range of topic from her interest in barefoot walking and doing coaching work to our journaling practices and the Gene Keys.

It was one of those soul-nourishing conversations that flowed with ease and curiosity.
Exploring each others dreams & visions and finding alignment in many of those.
She was into writing and started to post content about her business online. I’m creating this blog.
She played with the thought of creating a mindful nomad co-living in her home country. I once dreamt about managing a conscious co-living.

We were sharing our hearts’ whispers & mirroring each other beautifully.

After a couple of hours, both of us still blown away about this unplanned connection, we parted ways, deciding to meet again the next day for doing our morning practices together at the beach.

How one synchronistic event can turn around a whole day.
I remain in gratitude for the mystery.
